YouTube videos in your Home Feed will now autoplay on Android

Have you ever been scrolling through your video feed on and wished that something would just start auto-playing without having to click on it? Yeah, me neither, but rolling out to users everywhere is a feature that Premium users have had for a while.

Autoplay on Home is something that has been on the web version of YouTube for some time – when scrolling through videos in your home feed, videos will start playing without any sound. You’ll see the thumbnail briefly before the video begins playing when you hover your mouse over it. The same behavior is now set to come to .

Google says these Autoplay previews will also show captions when available so you’ll also be able to see at a glance what people are saying in the videos as well. does suggest that the feature can be disabled for the data conscious as this will increase data usage.

Google is rolling Autoplay on Home out to Android and iOS in the coming weeks. You can check out the post in the YouTube Help Forum for more information.
